  • Position:  Associate, Project Finance

  • Position:  Controller

    Requirements: Sol Systems is seeking a controller to lead our accounting, tax, budget, and financial reporting functions.  The successful candidate must demonstrate attention to detail and have excellent accounting and record-keeping skills, as well as a working knowledge of state and federal tax regulations. A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

    • MS in Accounting and 2+ years of experience as a senior or staff accountant
    • Experience serving as a lead accountant for a small firm preferred but not required

    Description: The Controller will be in charge of the overall management of accounting functions. There will be an in –house bookkeeper that will report to the controller. The Controller will be expected to own  the following tasks:

    • Creating and Implementing accounting policies & procedures
    • Providing accounting expertise in business decisions
    • Working with outside accounting firm to establish a tax planning/corporate structure strategy
    • Assisting Sol Systems’ team members with transaction structuring
    • Financial model revue for GAAP compliance
    • Tracking customer invoices and working closely with the sales team
    • Manage the processing vendor invoices and employee expenses
    • Manage the maintenance and updating of Quickbooks
    • Research and resolve payment variances with customers
    • Setting up cash disbursements
    • Managing payroll on a bi-monthly basis using ADP
    • Managing monthly journal entries and schedules
    • Performing monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations
    • Assisting with month-end and year-end close procedures for preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
    • Assisting in annual tax filing preparations
    • Coordinating with Sol Systems employees on appropriate accounting procedures
    • Managing the company’s cash needs in conjunction with the needs of the business units
    • Other Responsibilities as assigned

    Location & Hours: Our office is in Dupont Circle.  Our business hours are 9:30am to 6:30pm, but employees will be expected to work additional hours to meet company needs.

    Commitment & Compensation: This is a full-time position. In this role, you will work with our developer and EPC partners to manage the successful delivery of solar projects on behalf of our investor clients. The Project Manager will be required to manage and communicate between various stakeholders to ensure that all interests are being met during the installation and operation of new systems. This role will require a combination of pure project management skills, solar construction experience, an understanding of contracting and project level agreements, leadership skills, and strong communication capabilities.     Description: A Project Manager on the operations team will have the following responsibilities:

    • Work externally with EPC teams and developers to effectively manage and deliver upon major milestones during the construction phase for our investor clients, on time and on budget.
    • Compose communications and scheduled status reports for internal and external parties.
    • Lead and participate in project meetings with EPC partners, conduct on-site meetings/inspections, and generally keep an active involvement during the installation and acceptance testing.
    • Proactively attend to potential issues associated with typical solar PV construction.
    • Oversee multiple projects in parallel, successfully meeting target goals for completion milestones.
    • Monitor performance of projects, manage relationships with O&M providers to deliver services.

  • Position: Solar Analyst Intern (position beginning in summer 2014), targeted towards undergraduates

    Description: The Solar Analyst Intern will assist with registration processes, administrative duties, and research tasks, and will be expected to provide clearly defined deliverables. The position will require attention to detail, excellent record keeping, and efficient allocation of time and resources.

    Through this position, the Solar Analyst Intern will gain familiarity with solar legislation, solar finance mechanisms, industry news, and industry vocabulary, as well as new product development in a fast paced, start-up environment.
