Yuri Horwitz - President & CEO: Yuri Horwitz co-founded Sol Systems to make solar energy an affordable option for homeowners and businesses and has succeeded by bridging the gap between traditional energy suppliers and the solar community.
Mr. Horwitz has been involved in the energy and environmental policy fields for the last decade. He has assisted clients with the development of wind and solar energy production facilities throughout the United States and has provided pro-bono legal assistance to a number of environmental non-profits, including the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Southern Environmental Law Center, and the Surfrider Foundation. Most recently, Mr. Horwitz has focused on helping to develop and implement solar RPS programs, and has consulted states and presented at regional and national conferences regarding the operation of these programs. Mr. Horwitz also recently designed one of the nation’s first community-owned solar power purchase agreements.
Mr. Horwitz holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law and a dual BA from the College of William and Mary in Government and Environmental Studies.
George Ashton - As Vice President and CFO of Sol Systems, George Ashton, manages the financial and accounting operations for one of the largest solar financial services firms on the East Coast. With several years experience in SREC markets, he co-manages a multi-megawatt SREC portfolio spanning more than 13 states in the Mid-Atlantic, North East, and Mid-West regions. He also leads the Commercial SREC Services group, working closely with developers, installers, and public/private financiers to create financeable solutions to get solar in the ground.
George Ashton came to Sol Systems with more than a decade of investment, trading, and capital market analysis experience, working in the Capital Markets Group at Fannie Mae. There he managed more than $20 billion in asset purchases during his last year of employment and cultivated and developed business relationships with some of largest banks in the country and several Wall Street firms.
George Ashton has an MBA from the University of Maryland and a dual BS in Finance and Economics from the College of William and Mary. He also serves on the Board of the Washington Jesuit Academy, a middle school for promising disadvantaged male youths.
Jeff Bordogna - CTO: Jeff Bordogna comes to Sol Systems as an experienced web developer and technology advisor. Before joining Sol Systems, he served as Director of Search and Integration for Hotelicopter, an innovative hotel search engine, where he oversaw the technical development of the core search engine functionality. He previously managed a web development company, Falling Creek Design Group, and currently runs Night Train Consulting, a technology and business process consulting company.
Mr. Bordogna holds a BS in Systems Engineering and a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia.
Sudha Gollapudi - Director of Strategic Partnerships: Sudha Gollapudi comes to Sol Systems with over six years of experience in the renewable energy sector. Prior to joining our team, she worked as a Consultant for a renewable energy consulting company, working with large companies and organizations to improve their energy footprint.
Ms. Gollapudi holds a Master’s in Environmental Management and a Certificate in Energy from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment as well as a Certificate in International Development from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Bates College.
Natacha Kiler - Director of Sales & Marketing: Natacha Kiler brings eight years of business development, sales, and marketing experience to Sol Systems. Previously, Ms. Kiler worked in Sales and Marketing for SunEdison, a pioneer in the solar energy services industry, where she helped generate more than 320 MW of sales pipeline.
Ms. Kiler holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill with a concentration in Marketing and Sustainable Enterprise. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Vanderbilt University.
Srini Viswanathan - Director of Finance: Srini Viswanathan is following his passion for renewable energy after a brief career in corporate finance and investment banking. He worked for UBS Investment Bank and Marlin Associates as an investment banking associate executing merger & acquisition transactions. Previously, he worked with technology services companies implementing software development projects, managing offshore sales processes and leading business development teams.
Mr. Viswanathan holds an MBA from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a Bachelor of Commerce with major in Accounting from University of Mumbai.
Nicolas Serban – Associate: Nicolas Serban joins Sol Systems with an environmental background ranging from working for NGOs, lobby groups, and an organic farm employing renewable energy in southern India. Previously, Mr. Serban worked on developing ecotourism initiatives in countries around the world including Fiji, the Dominican Republic, and Ethiopia. At Sol Systems, he looks forward to working towards creating a clean energy future.
Mr. Serban earned his BA from the School of International Service at American University, majoring in International Environmental Politics and completing a minor in Environmental Studies.
Daniel Yonkin – Associate: Dan Yonkin comes to Sol Systems having spent the past two years within the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development as a Huygens Scholar in the Netherlands, researching policies to stimulate the deployment of renewable energy technologies. Additionally, while abroad, Dan worked briefly for a renewable energy consultancy researching European and American energy reform policies.
Mr. Yonkin holds a MS in Sustainable Development specializing in energy policy and tradable permit markets from Utrecht University, where he graduated with highest honors. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and English from Vassar College.
